Techn: Pencil Size. 24x32cm (somewhere between A3 and A4). Date: Nov 2002 This is to be one of Namé’s companions on her journey. He is the classic jolly figure who tells jokes, singsongs and loves food. Food is actually more than passion for him. It is knowledge that has made him renown enough to enter a high society called the Limishu. I did this portrait without reference as well. All I set out to depict was a round nose, slightly tilted eyes, a humble smile and curly hair. As I drew, I decided he should be by the fire, cooking up a good meal for the others, and thereby I had to set this light on his face. It was really scary as I had so many considerations to take concerning shadows… like how his hand casts shadow upon his face, and the pot… I still feel it is too low on him, and something isn’t quite right. **shrug** It LOOKS good, and isn’t that what really matters?
