the Princess

Techniqe: oil (also metallic oil crayons) on canvas Size: about A3 Dated 2003 It's been a while since I painted this, and I can't remember the exact symbolism. Actually I upload this mainly because my elfwood screams for updates and I'm too busy with school. I recall this as an uproar to all thats idyllic and sweet; safe as a castle. Hate strikes her home and makes her safety crumble. In this chaos she finds hatred in herself and pulls out the tool for unseeming her pink dress (actually an old barbiedress of mine) which no longer fits her state of mind. Guess it's called growing up and realising the world is not as a naive child sees it. Also indirectly a comment on the warmongery at the time, how terror spawns terrorism. (she looks like a terrorist, doesn't she?) That is also why I kept the dragon symbol-like instead of posing it properly on top of the castle Not my best work, but presentable I think. Not many oilpaintings in my repertoire.
