I love Walmart.! Coming from England, where art shops are small, specialist and expensive, I was delighted to find I could buy craft and art suppies in the same supermarket I got my bread amd milk. The inspiration for Hazel was the Walmart fabric that makes her skirt. and Keat's Ode to Autumn. ....fill all fruit with ripeness to the core; To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells With a sweet kernel; to set budding more, And still more, later flowers for the bees, Until they think warm days will never cease... She represents that brief period when roses are still blooming while the leaves turn gold and the berries ripen. Her head is moulded chamois leather, which also makes her delicate leaf-shaped elven ears. Her shoes are gold lace and her corset; purple velvet with ribbon roses and real berries. She is intended for my youngest daughter's Christmas present.
