Here is another picture of Aphrodite (my favorite deity) looking beautiful and powerful. In Greek mythology, she was often said to be a vain, jealous, spiteful goddess (much like most of the gods in that pantheon) despite the fact that she was the personification of love and beauty... But it has always been my opinion that people couldn't be more wrong about her. Aphrodite, like every god and goddess, is a personification of the will of those who have worshiped her, which, to me, seems to mean that it was not the goddess of love who was shallow and materialistic, so much as it was the average person who veiwed love in a purely one-dimensional way. Perhaps, when a person is willing to open their heart to unconditional love, the goddess of love, like a late summer rose, will transform into a mature, dignified blossom of beauty and unconditional goodness.
