As a juvenile, Nightmare attacked him, leaving deep scars across the bony ridges of his nose and beak. Despite being at a disadvantage in a terrestrial fight, Dis fearlessly defended himself rather than submit. His jaw had been broken in several places; one of his nostrils was ripped; several teeth were broken, lost or otherwise damaged. A deep scar vertically crossed his right eye. Though the eye seemed to have escaped damage, it was bright orange rather than matching the ruby red of his left eye. His worst injury had been a direct blow to the head, breaking the jaw hinge itself. It healed imperfectly, making the jaw permanently off set. Every time the unfortunate dragon opened his mouth, he had to adjust it before it would close. Hunting and eating were difficult, but Dis met the challenge as he did all challenges--with fearless tenacity. (excerpt from Milagros, a dragon's tale, written by artist) Dis is one of the few wyverns that call Milagros home. Though some do not consider them proper dragons, most dragon clans include at least a couple pairs as they are superb aerial fighters and cannot be matched "on the wind." Dis is a particular favorite of mine. Ink and watercolor.
