In an explosion of plotting, that spanned several days, a friend and I decided to entwine my characters into part of something she'd done for her characters. The story was rather complex. But the gist was that this guy here (Fumagalli) was the bravest knight in the kingdom until another knight, who was far more honorable, started showing him up. Hearing of a fire goddess who could grant wishes with the right sacrifice, Fumagalli began to plot with a trapper and a peasant. Turns out, this new knight was the idea sacrifice. The trio duped the squire who worshiped the new knight into helping them out, and lured the knight to the cave where the goddess was said to lurk.Turns out, they got it almost right. The sacrifice they needed was the knight's brother. The goddess decided to "reward" them with the exact opposite of what they came to wish for, and these would persist through their family lines. And so Fumagalli was cursed to be too cowardly to seize any great opportunities. Even the duped squire was cursed with a broken heart.
