The Big Ugly

I felt like drawing something that could devour your mummy, your daddy, your little brother, your granny and the rest of the family (including the pets) and still ask for desert afterwards. Surprisingly enough, I was decently successful. Seems to be a distant relative of Cthulhu, so I was probably subconsciously inspired by H.P. Lovecraft while drawing this. The Latin writing in the background only occurred to me after the initial drawing was done already. It sort of creates the effect of looking at a picture of some exotic creature in an old biology book or encyclopedia. In case you wondered where I got the text from: the main paragraph is an excerpt of 'de bello Gallico', written by Julius Caesar, and talks about some battles that happened in 55 B.C. It has no relevance to the picture other than purely decorative purposes (and it is much more fun to imagine that the text actually talks about the feeding habits of the thing and how to avoid it). The name for the creature (Cerasus Verutus) was taken from a Latin dictionary. I just wanted to pick a name that sounds like the scientific description for a beast like this, yet has no point whatsoever when translated. Since it seems that I am now required to provide translations for all non-English writing in a picture: Cerasus Verutus means "Cherry Armed with a Javelin". ^^
