The Raven-panther Gryphon and Familiar Eagle-lion Gryphon are the tenth in a series of artwork I did for my AP art portfolio four years ago. The main idea of the paintings in this series was a contrast between style and subject. The former being of 19th century biological and informative type with details on classification and general anatomy; the latter being of purely fanastical and imaginative origin with emphasis on the unreal and mythical. The series is done in watercolour and black ink pen. This particular painting is my favorite in the series, myself being very much attracted to ravens and what they symbolize. To this day, I am still happy with this one.
