I drew this in dedication to one of the first dragons I ever knew and loved. The sweet, gentle Elliott from Disney's movie "Pete's Dragon" was my definition of a dragon for many of my childhood years. I remember, when I was five, going out into the backyard and pretending to dance with Elliott. Very recently, I managed to find my very old VHS copy of the movie, and for old time's sake, I watched it. The tape is almost completely dead, but nevertheless, I relived some of my childhood as I sat and watched it. The words to the movie's songs started coming back to me, even though I had not heard them in years. And in my modern eye, I realized just how badly animated Elliott was in some scenes. I actually once thought Elliott was a real, live dragon. Though my tastes and talents in dragons have evolved since those days of yore, I still hold a special place in my heart for my first dragon love. So here's to you, Elliott. You made a dragon artist out of me.
