This project was absolutely intense. The grass alone accounts for a quarter of a million polygons! I placed the grass by hand in aproximately 30 groups, with another 10 smaller clusters used to fill in some key areas.The sword was composited in from my first draft render, however, the lighting in that draft had some unfortunate spotlighting on the armor. Correcting the lighting to remove the spotlighting left the sword a bit 'dull', but the composite seemed to be the most efficient solution.In scene, I used 6 mesh lights (3 curved, 3 flat) and 1 IBL Sphere. The IBL featured a sky with clouds in shades similar to the final sky, but the clouds felt like they rendered very 'flat', so I rendered with an alpha layer and painted the sky by hand in photoshop as part of the post-process.
