Robot Dragon Schemata

Sci fi/Fantasy image by

Its a mock-up schemata of a robotic dragon, assembled from memory metals with a skeleton-like frame. The spine is based on a series of cup-and-ball arrangements which transfer data from one vertebrae to the next using optics.  They are held together by thick bundles of memory metals, which also allow them to move by contracting in response to electricity.I don't know enough about math or electricity yet to build one, but I've given it a little thought, and this is one of those daydreams.  They're very loosely inspired by the idea of firelizards from the works of Anne McAffrey- small, pocket sized dragons have always appealed to me.  Of course, there are other books that feature tiny dragons.
