This is an incomplete cropped version of an unfinished piece I was working on to compliment a short story from my Tsumeryujin world. To sum up as briefly as possible: a group of Tsumerujinese get stranded on desolate and deadly island. Samurai, noble, and peasant all work together to survive. Raeshumoto Satoru, a young impressionable samurai who firmly believes in his bushido code starts to fall for one of the noble ladies, Shijo Suiyoko. At one point, a deadly accusation brought forth about her and she flees the group to avoid persecution. Satoru follows and this the scene that follows: Suiyoko contemplates suicide while Satoru is torn between what his code of honor tells him is right and what his heart is trying to tell him. This was done in pencil, then I went and inked this trial scanned version. I'm still not sure what medium I'll use in the final version. For those curious, it was intentional that Satoru's right sode, or shoulder guard, is missing...I initially intended for his armor to fall apart as the story went on from wear, symbolizing his uncertainty in the code that he protected himself in. When I went and inked this, I decided to make it fairly complete, but left the guard off. The kabuto is supposed to resemble a ship cutting through waves, even though its difficult to see such here.
