A gift for my friend, Sara, a gamer and lover of all things cute. She is a fan of the Dragon Warrior games, especially the many types of slimes. For those of you unfamilair with the series, the art for those video games was done by Akira Toriyama, and much of the game design was based on Dungeons and Dragons. Rather than going with D&D's featureless and deadly blob for the slimes, he drew something rather cute, with large eyes and mouth. Since then, you see similar slimes in a lot of swords and sorcery anime, like Slayers and Dragon Half, and they even make a return to the tabletop RPG medium in Uresia: Grave of Heaven, a BESM-now-system-agnostic setting by S. John Ross, whre they are a playable race. (When we played, Sara was a silver slime adventurer named Bob, with a blue slime sister who was training to be a magical girl in Temphis.) Here you see a normal (blue) slime, a spotted slime and a metal slime. Looks like some poor photographer-adventurer startled them out of hiding. All three were worked freehand using an size-F crochet hook. They follow roughly the same pattern, but the spotted slime was worked with bulky yarn, rather than the sport weight of the two others.
