Lately, a lot of artist seem to do pictures, that are inspired by asian culture in one way or another. Well, so did I. I wanted to do some kind of illustration with an implied story behind it. The fox (maybe a kitsune who hasn't earned his additional tails) is the hero, chased by an evil fire-demon that threatens to wipe out his village. To stop the demon, the fox travels to the end of the world, where he meets the mother of storms. This wind-spirit is actually very mild and calm, only the sons she gives birth to are wild and violent. The fox gives her a magical pearl he found when traveling across the sea and in return, gets the bell of the storms from her, with which he can summon her sons to battle the fire-demon. The picture illustrates the moment of the trade.
