Starling and the Fool

Fans of Robin Hobb's first trilogy (the Assassin books) may recognise The Fool and Starling Birdsong, an enigma and a bard. While travelling down the Skill Road, both characters get into many fights, which normally result in Starling being annoyed with the Fool, and the Fool himself silently contented. I remember, in the book, Fitz describes the Fool as wearing simple robes, so here is a plain black robe. Also, his pale skin and hair were slightly tinted with colour, because he was growing up, according to him. I don't know what Starling wore, so this is my interpretation of a Bard's outfit. By the way, I refer to the Fool by 'he', as in the first three books, Robin Hobb depicts him as a male.

The Holocaust has claimed many lives. Yet stragglers live on, finding refuge in the icy mountains of Tibet. All seems well, until Fera drags Dio deep into a surreal cavern and tells him of her prophecy: a second Holocaust, the ultimate horror... ~Normally I write horror/fantasy, but I guess this is an exception. In personal opinion, this is the most unique ending I have ever written.

A princess escapes her castle, not wanting to be part of an arranged marriage and meets an ancient immortal who has awoken to fulfill timeless prophecies. Meanwhile, a merchant girl goes on an adventure of her own, accompanied by a few unusual friends. And Fate plays her own little part...
