The Mountain Father

This picture was done between December of 99 and February 2001. This was done, of course, in Mechanical Pencil on 8(1/2)*11 paper. This depicts a scene from the third book in my series (same books as all the other pics). In it, the hero has descended to below the deepest levels of some ancient dwarven cities to find a mythical character known to the Dwarves as 'The Mountain Father'. The dwarves worshipped this being as a god, and tried to emulate the deep, soulful and mournful sounds of its ceaseless singing. The hero, having had a bad experience with a dragon (at the end of book one), decides to investigate. And this is what he finds... and now he's not sure what to do. Kill it, or free it? The name of the dwarves, by the way, I'm also thinking of changing (again, to avoid confusion). But I haven't come up with a suitable replacement name yet, except perhaps the elven word for Dwarves... Artist's Challenge: My sign appears in this pic twice, but one of them is really rather small.
