'For Fëanor began to love the Silmarils with a greedy love, and grudged the sight of them to all save his father and his seven sons...' It's enough to make one take that curse thing seriously... All who follow the house of Fëanor will suffer the wrath of the Valar -- which, no doubt, results in extreme difficulty in drawing them. The main problem here was that his head was too big in the first completed version. ::snicker:: OK, I know you don't want to hear that, so here's the self-absorbed hotheaded Noldo we know and love... well some of us anyway. I did have a rational purpose -- several, in fact -- for the picture. First, it had been awhile since I'd last drawn Fëanor, and the idea of him in my mind had changed ever so slightly. Second, I wanted to try some more complex clothing than what is in my other drawings. The cloak, which seemed elegant when I drew it, serves as sleeves whenever he lifts his arms from his sides and completely covers them otherwise. Third... well, third was to feed the obsession, I guess -- so there were two rational purposes. Update: 12/04/02: A couple of minor changes to the face to make it look more like the face of the previous pic.
