Owl Fae (Glimpse of Reality Series)

I have had a facination with owls for a long time now but until recently I haven't braved creating their likeness' for fear of not "getting it right." That changed when my grandmother facebooked me an image of an owl seemingly launching an attack on something groundward. I was so awed by the beauty of the photograph I knew I had to try. The prose of the bird was so elegant and yet so aggressive and so I used that as the basis of the owl outline. Altering the composition of the bird to twigs and cloth or leather and rope.I imagine that this fairy was on her merry little way when something startled her! Suddenly she throws her hands up over her head and then infront of her face to draw her hood over her head and place the eyes -from her palms- in their place of agressive challenge. Her fairy wings shift high and take with them the faux wings from her cape-like hood into their more appropriate wings which shwoosh out her skirts into lively tailfeathers thereby offering a worthy predator in the blink of an eye. So, I tried to capture that idea in motion. To make the owl almost believable at a glance while also making it obvious it's a fairy beneath the illusion upon closer inspection. Because we all know, with the fae, the moment you look back to GET that closer inspection they are gone. ;)
