Reality of a Caterpillar

Sci fi/Fantasy image by

First, I started this painting because my Twin wanted to do another set where we use the same reference picture but don't look at what one another is doing until we're done. This time we chose a catterpillar. I did do a rough sketch on the canvas in order to draw my reality lines and be able to paint the two sides appropriately. From there I did the blue (real) side first and then the red (alternate/dream/intent) side. Now to explain a little about the meanings within the painting, not all of them because then what's the fun, but just to get you thinking...1) A little hidden reality lesson: Note the bubble shapes used to create the boundary from one reality to the next, it's believed that when our decisions make new parallel realities, this is actually what it looks like, bubbles that flow off of one another interconnectedly. This was one of the reasons I chose this shape options.2)  A little symbolism: More into the study of reality is the curse of the observer. It's said that we are everywhere until we're observed somewhere. The eye in the butterfly wing on the caterpillar in the alternate reality is a part of that representation. What is real? If it is observed in our imaginations is it real on same plane of existance for having been observed?3) A little life lesson: The caterpillar is a vulnerable creature without many defenses and part of this painting is the display that one can effect their reality by creating it. I imagined the caterpillar is imaging itself this intimidating caterpillar with these menacing eyes and by projecting this thought around it, prevents itself from being eaten while it eats, and stays plump and healthy!Feel free to share how it makes you feel and what you think about it specifically. I promise to reply to all comments and I make it a point to visit all fellow artists pages and share my perspectives. I love art and I feel it should be shared by all! ******Thank you to the Mods for the Mods Choice! I'm delighted and estatic you enjoyed it so much. Thank you. -beams-
