This particular piece I did in an art class I took. We had to do a 2D object/project. We had to like carve things or glue foam on top of each other to make a design, things like that. Any how. I drew and then carved this mermaiden sitting on a patch of rocks looking at the sun, enjoying the breeze. She is nude up top, it just didn't make sense that she'd be so worried and hung up about nudity like we are on the surface, after all most other fey are not and she's kind of a fish, you don't see whales and goldfish running around in shells and clothing do you! After I carved the piece I decided that I would paint it and help add depth and demension to the piece, which it did quite well. This was a marvelous piece to work on and I'm glad for how it turned out, but all the carving was a killer, my arms and wrists hurt for a week afterward. Spent like a week maybe two to do this.
