Playing with the Scales

This is a slightly odd picture, with an equally odd history. I'd been drawing numerous people for hours on end, and the proportioning was getting steadily worse. Finally I decided to send proportion to hell and make up a creature. So I literally shut my eyes, put the pencil to the paper and drew a few random lines. The result looked a little like a slightly emaciated version of the monster of Egyptian mythology that eats your heart if it weighs more than a feather. Let me say now: making a creature up is no escape from the nightmare of getting the proportions right! But anyway, from that the slightly Egyptian theme emerged. Basically, the monster has had nothing to eat for ages and her ribs are starting to show, so she has decided to fix the scales so that only the real saints can pass the test, and she'll have some hearts to eat. Keeping a careful eye on Osiris (the guy with an ankh for a hand), she extends a careful paw towards the scales, not realising that every other eye in the place (and this being Egypt and the Underworld to boot, the place is teeming with them) is on her!

Aliyara 1: Ayolida

This is an introduction to the world of Ayolida. From here I will lead on to the main story in due course, but this is really just to help the reader get his/her bearings.

This is my first (and only) really successful attempt at horror. I don't want you to be scared. I just want you to be thoroughly, thoroughly, freaked out. Enjoy, and please comment.

I am innocent

This is a poem about the warped nature of innocence in today's society. Actually, it's just me feeling morbid, but it amounts to roughly the same thing!
