Acrylic on Masonite 4X4. I hired a model for the first time on this one. I find if I try to draw bodies without reference they turn out misproportioned. I put in nearly 50 clock hours on this work and tried to come up with an eye pleasing composition. I often do not plan my works out in advance and find myself back composing which only hurts my work...I find I do not have alot of patience when it comes to drawing out the pre-painting and end up filling in holes to make the work balance out. I have noticed that over time my works have become more and more detailed and I am able to work at a faster pace. I am also starting to use washes to create areas of shadows and transparency. The theme with this work is a warrior chic taking a rest from the daily grind of war.
