Gift art for a friend who wanted her own skull dancer. For info about skull dancer, she the Drake pic. Colors, critter (she ask for a unicorn, but the qilin are more fun) and long hair where a demand from her. The appearance, clothes, and story where created by me.
Ji was a scholar in the eastern part of the world. He didn't want anything more than giving equal justice for the people, and studied hard to pass the exam at the imperial city and become a judge. But once in the city, he discovered a corrupted court, where high ranked nobles could do whatever they wanted, drug, murder, conspiracy against the emperor and never been accused. Disgusted by this city, Ji came back his native mountains, and prays qilins (or kirin, kilin etc), beast of justice, to help him to bring justice. The qilins agreed and gave him the skull of the oldest unicorn of the mountain, to help him slaying evil and lies in this world. Ji change his name to take the qilin's, and became Shan Yang (Mountain goat, I think) a traveling judge able to discern truth from lies.
Ji is a little justice obsessed (no kidding!), and prompt to fight anyone 'bad' by his books, but nice to be around if you don't try arguing about philosophy or law with him. He is very intelligent, cultivated, has a very dry sense of humor, and have very good relation with Shan Yang's soul, where other skull dancers are constantly struggling to avoid possession. He is one of the only skull dancers using the skull backward, because the qilin's horn can only cut the guilty and it's easier to do that way.
Ji/Shan Yang are mine and Emi Hotaru. Steal them and painfully die from syphillis.
