Another first draft illustration from my 'Handbook to the Noc Populus'. This is a female Kiangshi, the sixth Clan of the Noc Populus. The Kiangshi are water dwellers, who live in the lakes and rivers of Eastern Asia. Like the waters they inhabit, they are changeable and dangerous. They are a matriarchal race who value serenity, wit, and asthetics. The female pictured here is dressed in traditional attire, imitating the fins of a fish, and holding a bowl of water, because the Kiangshi cannot allow their fuz-covered skin to dry out. Some tribes carry their bowls on top of their heads, leading to the myth that some members of the Clan have a concave head.
