The silence was what she loved about that place, the perfect stillness of the dawning morning having drawn her every day for as long as she could remember. It was her haven, a mysterious ruin long forgotten by her people, its long-ago purpose erased utterly by the relentless flow of time. When no one else could lay claim to it, she took it as her own, creating in her head thousands of stories to explain the history she could feel there, the unimstakeable pulse of the world's heart that hummed in the air. Those stories were her amusement, her game, her distraction. One of them was the reason that she didn't see the newly-fallen stone that morning. Egg-shell-thin crystal shattered under the sudden wieght of her palm, the sound like unworldly music in the clinging morning mist. Stunned, kneeling in the dew-wet grass, she lifted her gaze to behold the discovery that would change her life and her world forever... Photoshop 6 and the Trusty Mouse. This was my first attempt at digital painting.
