Rama, the prince of Ayodhya.. the scion of the House of Kosala.. the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu.. in Hindu mythology, Lord Vishnu takes incarnations at different periods of time to help humanity fight against the demonic forces and these are called Avatars...this incarnation of Rama was needed when the three worlds had been conquered by Ravan and even the Devas were crushed under his might..Rama had to fight the ten-headed demon Ravan to rescue his wife Lady Sita...Here he is shown in battle mode facing his enemy Ravan's demon armies with the same calm and equanimity with which he listens to his father's wishes.. I am sharing here some beautiful lines describing the last moments of Rama's battle with Ravan.. these have been taken from 'The Ramayana' by Romesh C. Dutta (1848-1909)'Still the dubious battle lasted, until Rama in his ire,Wielded Brahma's wrathful weapon flaming with fire,The weapon that Agastya had unto the hero given,Winged as lightening dart of Indra, the fatal bolt of heaven,Wrapped in smoke and flaming flashes, speeding from the bow,Pierced the nectarian navel of Ravan, laid the demon low,Voice of blessings from the sky fell on Raghu's valiant son,'Champion of the True and Righteous, thy noble task is done!'The backdrop for my sketch is from freebackgrounds.com..
