This is a drawing of a sjörå (it's swedish and I'd translate it to "Lakewarden" or "Lakeguardian") or at least how I think she could look like, for it is always a she. A little history:The lakewarden is a creature that resides in the dark lakes and waters of scandinavia and as the name inplies, se is the warden of the lake. She is sister to the forrestwarden (also a female forrestcreature but she is often drawn as a beautiful woman from the front but in the back she is hollowed out like an old tree and has a foxtail). Like many swedish/scandinavian mythological creatures she is not down right evil but you really need to look out, especialy if you'r a man. But it's said if you are on a fishingtrip you should share some of you'r lunch with her and she may grant you fishing-luck. About the techniqes:For this one I first sketched up a painting with a graphite pencil and then took a picture of it with my digital camera (i don't have a scanner) and after that I painted it in PhotoShop.
