The Blademistress and Her Cubs

I've only recently gotten over a mental roadblock when it comes to painting my wife (which I'll discuss more at length in another description), but now that I have, I want to paint her every day.  She has long wanted me to paint her as a Royo-esque blademistress, both sensual and deadly (which is entirely fitting), and while my skills aren't quite up to his lofty level yet (or even close) I decided to tackle it head on, anyway.  Even more fitting was inserting my twin girls into the painting as subjects for her to protect.  Especially this close to mother's day.  The end result has more in common with Frazetta or Vallejo than Royo, but that's still good company. ;)The most difficult part of the composition believe it or not was coming up with the perfect monster.  Not because of any detail involved, or not having the benefit of a photo to paint from, but rather because whatever I picked had to fit flawlessly into the allotted space, AND fit the diverging eye line of all three models.  A wyrm ended up being the best choice, because it could get in at the right angle without needing to adjust the geography of the background. It's nice having a gorgeous model ready to pose nude for you at your whim (it's always easier to add clothing than to subtract it, I say).  Plus the after party is a blast. ;)You can check out more "family portraits" (or get your own done) at www.sunstormsaga.com/portraits
