Slake

Sci fi/Fantasy image by

When I first started doing portraits again, one of the things that worried me (since I was primarily dealing with models I'd met online) was potentially angering the subject's significant other.  It was for this reason that I started changing the faces to get a more fantasy edge to them.  I figured a guy would be less likely to think someone had a thing for his lady if she were rendered as a demon or werewolf than with a glamor painting.  The vampire is probably the easiest of these shifts.  Pallid skin, sharpened fangs, lowered brow, and a trickle of blood for seasoning (this is now my most common request for "darkside" paintings).Ironically enough, the ones who protested were the models, who wanted that glamorized look to go alone with the gothic rendering.  This is how "Darksides" were born.  Now, I paint two images.  The first, a glamorized beauty shot, and the second transforming the subject of that painting into their darkest desire (or something that the pose inspires me to).You can see more Darkside paintings (including the original non-vampiric version) or get your own at www.sunstormsaga.com/portraits
