This is my first acceptable rendition of Jihada. Jihada is a young girl in her early teens, trying to cope with being of male and female parents, and living in a society that views male/female pairings as inferior. Because of her heritage, she is constantly reviled. It doesn't help that she is the chosen protege' of the most decorated living hero of the Jurai. In this scene, Jihada has just gotten into a scuffle with one of the gate guards, and to work off her frustration, she sneaks into the training temple. After working herself into a lather, and accidently slicing off her earlobe (it is forbidden for one of her age to touch a blade) she proceeds to enter a forbidden training chamber, designed to put the heartiest of warriors to the test. In her righteous fervor, and her desire to be just like her teacher Isara, Jihada strips down in homage to the original demon hunters, in an attempt to prove herself victorious even at her most vulnerable, just as they did. Here's the excerpt.
'Jihada pulled off her thick padded gloves first, tossing them to the ground. She shed her jacket next along with the thin undershirt that kept the wool from scratching. Bare-chested, she was determined to battle this foe garbed as one of the Crimson Brand. As an afterthought, she also stripped out of her leggings and tied them around her waist like a loin cloth, in the fashion of the one Isara wore. Minus the actual glyph-work, she carried herself with such a confident bearing, she might’ve even passed for a member of the brand, were the light poor enough.'
