Herman is one of my more favorite works. When I first got into using sketch books to draw in I bought my first large book and at the same time I had also bought a few stickers. Well weeks went by then I pulled the stickers out of the book and a little of the glue had seeped out along the edges of the stickers. At the same time I was talking to my art teacher about things she liked to do when drawing, one of the things she said she did was to close her eyes and make a single line on the paper. This line could swiggle, be straight, whatever. She said she would then take this line and turn it into a piece. That inspired me to take that line of dried sticker glue and turn it into something. That something was the bottom edge of Herman's top row of teeth. As for what he is...well, that I don't know...I thought he looked like a dog, thus his name. Maybe he was a giant mutant dog that some mad scientist created, but turned out to be a little more loving than furocious. Done with a mechanical pencil, cleaned in Photoshop.
