a barren landscape stretches before my eyes: harsh sunlight too close to the surface scorches stone and poison lakes alike alkalai water, acid rain, sandstorms and thirst my enemies abound but if They can live here so can I; great winged shapes make shadows on the sky flitting from citadel to cliffside citadel in this world where even angels deserve to die I seek my destiny among these mountains hunting chaos and my past, my mystery and people chaos, beckoning me onward, awaits inside my head others' voices, others' thoughts, urging me ever onward they await the wyverns, and my reawakening... I must die before I can live as one of them their guardians hold this place as a sacred chaos temple the wyverns know my soul, they know my heart they have accepted me as their own, and as their master's child my pilgrimage is over; time has won its war the marks are firm upon my skin, the pain is now receding wyverns and desert cats sing and leap in celebration their promised one has come to free them their souls to return to the World That Was the sun is at its zenith; the winds are scouring white clouds reflect the heat and the sandstorm rises Every trace of what I was is washed away I have died to live; I am made anew and the fates have only begun
