It was hard figuring out which category this belonged in, but considering what's actually happening and the story behind it, I felt horror with a mature rating was the best place.
Anna Palingo is a character who appears in later Dragonblood stories. While Anna's not a pyro and never actually torches her house, the picture wouldn't leave me alone after a friend pointed out the song 'Sunny Came Home' by Shawn Colvin as something that reminded her of Anna, and tossed out this mental image to me.
Sunny came home to her favorite room,
Sunny sat down in the kitchen.
She opened a book and a box of tools,
Sunny came home with a mission.
She says, 'days go by, I'm hypnotized,
I'm walking on a wire.
I close my eyes, and fly out of my mind
Into the fire.'
Sunny came home with a list of names,
She didn't believe in transcendence.
'It's time for a few small repairs,' she said.
Sunny came home with a vengeance.
This is the point in time where she leaves home for good. The man with the sword in the background is a Corsican Shadow Dragon, Morkoth Kras Nar'ik, Duke of Riathsby, the assassin she hired to kill her family. If I were to write her actually torching the place, that would be this moment. Just about to drop the match, burn the bodies and all the evidence...and just savoring the moment. She's delighted. Anna had a good reason to want them dead, a reason most people wouldn't fault her for...but she's also messed up enough that killing makes her happy. She's loving this moment...that itty bitty smile.
For the record, I both love and hate that blurred pic of Morkoth I used in the background. I'm not happy with the face or hair but everything else? Oh, the sword is a sweet, sweet thing I'm so proud of designing and I wish it was clearer in this pic (even though perception and focus meant it had to get blurred out). I may upload it later, even though the work on the face sucks.
