Another dragon character of Pictish Celtic origin, hence the Gaelic name - Mialladh (meaning 'Bad fortune' - pronounced 'may-lad' ) and the markings. His markings are non-permanent tribal tattoos painted with Woad (see below). He's a bit of a nutter, scruffy grey mane and plaits adding to his quirky charm."Mialladh predicted" 24/08/2008 Copyright © Sarah Collins "Zha'Krisstol" All Rights Reserved.Do not copy or redistribute any part of this image or character(s) without prior consent from the artist. Woad has been grown in Europe since the Stone Age and has a long association with East Anglia, notably with Boudicca and the Iceni tribe who used woad to colour their faces before going into battle. Further north the Picts also gained notoriety for their body painting with the blue woad dye. The Romans referred to these Ancient Britons as Picts as it is Celtic for "painted".
