This web page is part of a hosted copy of the WoodWorks eZine at Elfwood.  (#716)
The eZine is no longer updated, nor does it have it's own domain left... This also means that it's no use to contact the WoodWorks editors, etc, etc...

From The Editor

Welcome to the October issue.

Nothing quite beats the feeling of support you get when you're running around tearing your hair out because a proofreader never got back to you or because a writer disappeared... and you still have sixty-four things to do in the next 24 hours. My thanks to the folks who prodded and poked and troubleshot the zine till the very last minute... before we do it all over again.

I'm not kidding when I say it's getting harder and harder to put out a quarterly issue. We have a limited number of regular (dependable!) contributors and they are usually busy with a lot of things. 'When you want something done, ask a busy person', goes the saying. It's very true for us. Real Life - whether it's work or school, family or health - will always be our top priority. Many of us have been inflicted with Real Life in the last couple of months, which is why Woodworks either runs late, or is not as good a quality as we'd like it to be.

Which is why we put out a call for more staff members about a month ago. The call is still open. Would you like the zine to continue running next year? We'll know for sure in the next two months. Maybe you can make all the difference.

We hope you enjoy this issue. I'd like to conclude my message with a few words. And here they are:

Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak!

Thank you.

Georgette Tan,
Quarterly Editor

Duirwaigh Gallery honours Arthur Rackham
In November 2002, Duirwaigh Gallery will play host to an online art show honouring the imagination and works of Arthur Rackham. Georgette Tan reports.

Doomed and Proud of It
Good luck to all writers taking part in this year's NaNoWriMo! If it makes you feel any better in those moments of regret, a number of Woodworks Staff will be slaving over their own novels and panicking in the same way all November. Did I hear someone say "What the heck is NaNoWriMo?" Check out their website! You still have time to think about this!

The Editors would like to thank Michael J Thomas and Macarena Sáinz for answering the call for help. We didn't use your suggestions but we want you to know we appreciate the reply!
