It's hard to believe it's been well over a year since I got involved in Woodworks, and almost a year since Georgette, the Editor-in-Chief, said she needed someone for the Monthly Editor position, and I, for whatever reason of insanity, volunteered. The journey since there has been fun, complicated, occasionally intensely frustrating, and above all else, tiring. It's because of the last that this will be the last time you ever see me doing one of these intros: I'm leaving as an Editor in January, and the next Monthly issue will be February. Thanks to all of the staff and the readers for making this such a great year!
On a more regular note, our theme this issue celebrates a certain movie which will be opening this month. If you haven't already guessed (or didn't already know) I'll give you a hint: the novel trilogy the movie is based on also inspired a lot of Elfwood. That's right, the theme this month for Recommended Art is Lord of the Rings, with a companion of Tolkien-esque stories in Recommended Reading. Elsewhere, Klimpen continues to get hit on. Yes, you read that right.
Thanks again to all involved for making this a wonderful experience!
Thomas talks tech - Elfwood accounts, moderating and the ticket system from the man himself.
A new column debuting this month. Annet Nijmeijer talks about how life and LARPing inspires the imagination.
