Description

Elftown was created by Henrik Wallin in January of 2002 as a gathering place for fantasy and sci-fi artist, writers, and fans. As stated in the Elftown mission statement “Elftown is about people. It is about how they look, how they feel, how they smell...” The interactions between these people give Elftown a true feeling of community.

The Mayor, Henrik Wallin, is in charge of Elftown. He makes the rules and decides what is or is not added to the town. Backing the Mayor up are his Secret Agents and Town Guards who enforce the rules. Every member of Elftown contributes to its continued growth. They report bugs and suggest improvements.

When asked why he created Elftown, the illustrious Mayor’s answer was, “Honestly, I don't know. I just wanted to do something, so I began to write the program behind Elftown, and then I saw that Elfwood was in need for something like Elftown, so I began to build Elftown and got some help with testing, graphics and layout from Elfwooders.”

The forums of Elftown allow people from all over to discuss anything from the merits of cake versus the virtues of pie to people’s thoughts on war to drawing and painting techniques. Through these forums it is possible to come in contact with others who share your interests.

You can also do advanced searches for Elfwood people near you or people who share a similar interest. You can collaborate with others in your art and writing, vote in and make your own polls, write in other members' guestbooks, and you can help build Elftown with everything from spotting bugs to creating images for it, something that is both important and rewarding.
