One of the cool things about the Readership Surveys is when people suggest things we are already planning. It's good to know that we're on the same wavelength - when it comes to the 'zine, that is.
This month comes extra jam-packed with many of the things you've been asking for: more Survival Guides, more articles for writers, more practical tips, and of course, more Klimpen!
The theme for the month is "Coming of Age", and hopefully many of the articles within will help you make the transition from high school to college, or casual artist to professional. Get the lowdown on art schools from Sylvia Leung and Erwin Limawan, learn about copyright law with Robert Jones, or just find out how to deal with spam.
Go on, we dare you to find something you won't like this month.

So, what's up?
We have a new search engine at Elfwood that's really cool. Unlike the old one, this one should keep an updated database of what we have at Elfwood. That is important, since Elfwood keeps growing - and a big site makes it hard to find what you're looking for.
I recently watched Spirited away, by the way. What a wonderful movie - this must be imagination and fantasy at it's best - I just sat there with my jaw dropped for the two hours this movie lasted! Perhaps I am too old to watch a cartoon movie; I don't know. What is true is that I am too old for Elfwood. According to our latest survey, only about 3% of all users and visitors at Elfwood are 30 or above. And heck, I just turned 30! I might even be too old to understand what really goes on at the site, with all the new stuff and influences coming in that I am not used to. Lucikly, I have my good moderator crew to help me out when old grandpa doesn't understand! :-)
We will publish a summary of the results of that survey for you soon, by the way!
Otherwise, not much is going on right now - I am busy at work and Elfwood seems to run fine now, except these few hang-ups and failures we've had recently. They were due to a failing hard disc drive, and once an error occurred on it, Linux just hung.
Have a nice day!
Tip of the Month
Baby name sites and books should be considered a must for any writer. Getting a wide collection of them is even better--random name generator sites can be lifesavers when you're looking for a quick and easy name for a side character. Sites that let you look by meaning can help with more important characters, and even a basic book or site will let you look up meanings and origins, so you can make sure things match. Even boring namers will often have more fantasy & sf sounding names than you'd think!
