Mods Holiday, recent changes and why Elfwood is down again!

The mods all enjoyed their recent holiday. Actually, to be perfectly truthful, some of them didn't. Addicted they are, I tell you! Complaining bitterly because they couldn't go and mod your tickets! How is that for dedication?

When the extranet was reopened, it was to a flood of new tickets that quickly filled up the queue again. Oh well, that was to be expected! Fortunately we also had the moderators champing at the bit, as well as some new moderators who had been tested during the break, so they were ready and rearing to go. The "active mod" rate is now higher. Let's hope we can keep it that way!

No sooner then the mods returned from holidays though, Thomas took off for his holiday. Ten days without a computer. And of course, the result of that is that Elfwood almost immediately went down! We think that Klimpen, feeling neglected with Thomas away without him, took it out on Elfwood. But we can't be sure, and, as they say, "innocent until proven guilty" so we can't put the blame on Klimpen, no matter how much he looks like the cat that ate the canary.

Hopefully Elfwood will be restored to us soon.

In the meantime I suggest that everyone practises their art. We have put a new rule in place, one that strengthens the "no stick figure" rule and will hopefully make Elfwood a slightly nicer place to browse through. This has come from the results of the recent poll (I had hoped to make that public this issue, but with Elfwood being down I can't get to the results to finish my collating of them!) Many people complained about the total lack of quality control.

Don't worry! Elfwood is NEVER going to kick anyone out because they aren't the best artist! There is even a place on Elfwood for people who have never drawn a picture or written a story. It's called "Elftown". But we don't want to have to accept people who have only ever drawn four pictures and those four are the only ones that they will ever draw and were drawn for the sole purpose of getting a gallery in Elfwood.
Pictures drawn on lined paper are also no longer allowed on Elfwood. If a picture is good enough for display, then it's good enough to take enough care of to either remove the lines digitally, or not draw on lined paper in the first place.

Pictures that contain random squiggles used to be allowed if ONE of those squiggles could possible, maybe, in a good light, be made out to be a dragon. No longer. Now pictures must clearly be fantasy or science fiction and the scans or photos must be clear so that we can see what it is we are modding. Please take the time to crop any ring binder holes or scan edges from your pictures before uploading them. Be proud of your art and show your pride in the way that you display it.

There will be more about this soon.

In the meantime you can check out the "Moderators Dictionary" which is what we use to help us with borderline pictures. You can find it here.
