Hi! Thanks for the view and comments! I hope you don’t mind me critiqueing your work... I thnk it amazing to find someone else with as much depth in Egyptology as me, and your pictures show that you definately know what you’re talking about! One thing, I thik perhaps you should branch off of the traditionalist egyptian style for a little bit. Try sketching and shading pics. I know this probably sounds like blasphemy, but trust me, it helps!

:-) Christina Jo Brinkley replies: "I want to make new images of the other gods and re-make these images. I’m older now and I may be able to come up with new things. I write and try to make a living from selling Egyptian products & a few other themed set of items.
Here is one of my sites

Another thing, what is your opinion on the pharoh Akhenaten? Just curious....

:-) Christina Jo Brinkley replies: "This is the opening paragraph of my small book I was going to write about Akhenaten, I’m not done nor do I know if I can ever finish that book. I want it to be perfect and right in every detail of who this man was. "In my Eyes" no one knows who any one is but I want to show who I think he is by the info found on him from the past.

Akhenaten was one of the greatest pharaohs to ever reign over Egypt and was Egypt’s most profound pharaoh. During the eighteenth dynasty, about 3,500 years ago (1450-1332 B.C.) Egypt was at the height of its Splendor. (Amenhotep IV) also spelled (Amenophis IV) changed his name in the fifth year of his reign to “Akhenaton” (‘Glory of the sun disc’12, (“He who is of service to Aton.”12, also (‘He with whom the disc is pleased’12 and last (Aton is satisfied). Until Akhenaton the history of the world had been but the irresistible drift of tradition. Akhenaton was the first individual in history. He made some major, but short-lived changes to various aspects of ancient Egyptian culture, and the most notable one being his religious revolution. Akhenaton’s revolution consists of the gospel of beauty and beneficence of the natural order, recognition of the message of the nature to the soul of man. Akhenaton also made major changes in the ancient Egyptian art style, and presented him self in a very different manner from any of is predecessors. We begin to appreciate the powerful individuality of this first intellectual leader in history. His reign was the earliest age of the rule of ideas. Akhenaton was the worlds first revolutionary, and he was fully convinced that he might entirely recast the world of religion, thought, and life, by the invincible purpose he held. He led Egypt in a direction that would tag him “The Heretic Pharaoh.” Akhenaten did not invent the Aton, but merely adopted the ideas of his forefathers, where does the heresy lie? It lies with the fact that he claimed it as absolute, devoting himself exclusively to celebrating the Aten and proclaiming himself a prophet. He brought forth new ideas mainly in religion and art that would leave a lasting impression on the world.

Nice gallery. The framed format appeals to me. Looks as if they’d go well as a set of cards or the like. Good work!

there - all finished! 12
i love your style, and the colours you use. you could, perhaps, try branching out with your use of media. try oil pastels and scratching out your designs with a toothpick, it makes a very effective design. Also, have you ever tried mosaics? i think some of your gorgeous drawings could work beautifully with tiles, or squares of paper/card as a subsititute.
Lovely work, and thanks again for tagging me.

Hey! Wow.. I’ve never seen someone so dedicated to Egypt before 1 I think it’s really, really cool, I’ve always loved Egypt myself, even thought I’ve never been there (; Have you been there? Anyway, love your art girl! you sure have some awesome stuff up in here 1

:-) Christina Jo Brinkley replies: "I love Egypt I hope to go again this summer. Egypt cost a lot to live there if you live as a USA or English person, if you live like the native Egyptian person and rent from them you can live like a king or queen and only pay about 60% (rent, food, soap, washing clothes, extra stuff, ) of what you would pay a hotel or other places as nice. You need to go there just once in your life, a Visa if your from the USA only cost around $60 for shipping and visa fee. If I go this summer I will be getting married. If I do not get money to go this summer I will have to wait until next year to go so I can get married. I have a sweat heart who lives in Arabia, I can’t get a visa to there so we hope to get married in Cairo Egypt this May, or June."

Hey, I’ve got a new pic of Isis! I’d be honored if you’d drop by to view it!

:-) Christina Jo Brinkley replies: "I saw it I liked her skin a lot and the red. Do you know that as far as Russia Isis was worshiped until the Christians. In the way they loved Isis they just changed her name to Virgin Mary when the Christians started to take over,Christians hated pagans for one reason because pagans had never really let go of isis, Only culture that still worships her everyday other than pagans, are the Hindu because Kali and Durga is Isis only renamed and grew stronger and longer because the people loved her so much that they never left her for the Christian god. She is mostly seen wearing a crown of cow horns not a feather, ma’at has the Feather most of the time but the english thought at frist that ma’at and Isis was the same goddess and are shown every way now days? Just saying......
Each god has a color? Most people do not know this, for ever color that they used a god rained over that one color. Isis is BLUE, your isis is not Isis she is in fact Ma’at she has the feather and she is the goddess of whites and mauves. Now lower Aswan and lower egypt Isis was seen with a feather and after the eighteenth dynasty in egypt she was shown with a feather but mostly with cow horns. Like talking hope to hear from you again. Hope I did not bore you to tears."

no, you definately didn’t bore me! And yes, the example heiroglyph that i drew from was from lower egypt. (i don’t know the exact date.) The reason I chose red is because it was said that this color was associated with chaos and magic, two of my favorite qualities about isis. I think the color works better for the picture as well.
