This sketch was inspired by Anna Warren's Mergirl. Thank you, Anna, we agreed to do an art trade, and this is the sketch that I came up with. What Mergirl doesn't need a boyfriend? Anyway, this is the sketch, and the finished product will be posted as well.

This is just as funky as the coloured one, nice work! : )

:-) James Lara replies: "*The Funksoul Mer-man check him out now.* Thank you for the compliment. I was inspired by Anna's work and the colored version was colored by her, so I guess we both thank you."

Wow- thats an awsome merman! He certainly looks like a charmer! 1

:-) James Lara replies: "Sorry, he's taken by a certain mer-girl in Anna Warren's gallery. So his charmer skills are on hold until our little mer-girl hits him over the head with a conch...But thank you for the compliment..."

Yes...what mergirl doesn't need a b/f? He's definitely her type...rugged, muscular, sexy...everything a mergirl could want!

:-) James Lara replies: "I just realized that you commented on both, so here I am once again. It's all your doing, if you didn't draw such a hottie in the first place, then she wouldn't have a rugged mer-man striving for her affection. So my hat's off to you. lol..."

Wow! All I've seen so far have been coloured images, which, while spectacular in themselves, was nothing to prep me for this. The detail in this is positively astounding! What more can I say? Always a shame that detail is usually lost in the colouring process....

:-) James Lara replies: "Thank you, I love to astound."

Oh, lovely! I like both the colored one and this one, can't say which is the best... He looks like kinda what I'd imagine when I think of mer-men 2

:-) James Lara replies: "Thank you, this was quite a challenge for myself considering that it was somewhat outside the norm for my personal art style, but I also love how it came out. Thank you for the comment.."

Great job. I like how you drew him really loose and free, it gives him a lot of life.

1 James Lara replies: "This was fun for me to do, because I've always been more of a human focused artist, and to do a hybrid was a challenge that I gladly met..."

I really like your merman! It kinda reminds me of the one in my gallery only yours looks alot friendlier.

12 James Lara replies: "Yours looked pretty mean, and thanks for the comments..."
