This was inspired by the poem The Audience by Laura Skylie Engler.
To appreciate this picture, you should visit her page and read the poem.
An art trade, which has quite possibly blossomed into a professional relationship.

This is such a lovely picture. It conveys the same emotions as Skylie's poem. You can't help but want to give the old knight a hug and sit at his feet to listen to his stories.

:-) James Lara replies: "When I came across the poem, I was so inspired, that I had to do an illustration to accompany it. My only fear was that I wouldn't be able to convey the emotions that Skylie was able to put into words. She is so multi talented it makes me sick (JK)... I am glad that she gave me the opportunity to do this work, and somewhat branch out from my normal style...
Thank you for a pleasing assessment of my work..."

Ahh!! How cute and moving...Will read the poem!!! Beautifully colored and great pose, the proportions are great too.... ^-^ And the squirls are soo adorable.

:-) James Lara replies: "Thank you so much, I actually used some of the "cute" poses that my little dog, Arctic does when he wants attention, to draw the squirrels..."

Not very many comments? Yeesh! Skylie's got to be proud of this one...however, I have one question. Why hasn't she commented on this yet? Silly Skylie. But this is absolutely wonderful!

:-) James Lara replies: "During the composing of this one, she had received so many "in process" jpgs that she felt that she had given comments already, and I feel that she did her part as well. It was a fun piece to do, and I'm glad that I had her input..."

The drawing is really good, but the contrast with the colours is fantastic ! The red animals (squirrels ?) give a sharp contrast with the rest.
Excellent job !

:-) James Lara replies: "Thank you, and yes, they are squirrels (alright I lied they are different poses of my little dog), I loved doing this picture, because the words to Laura's poem really spoke to me, and painted this picture in my head..."
