| 12 Dec 2002 | Somnifer | Loading...Actually...i don't think Malory and Tennyson were exactly...You see, Tennyson hadn't yet read 'Le Morte D'Arthur' when he first wrote 'The Lady of Shallot'...When he did read it though, he wrote 'Elaine and Lancelot' and still later, revised 'The Lady of Shallot' ...Ick. Essay due on this in a matter of hours. God help me. Nice pic. Linda Aarts replies: "Yes, you're totally right When I uploaded the picture I was convinced that it was Morgaine they talked about, but later on I discovered it was Elaine, indeed Thanks!" | |

| 3 Nov 2003 | Nicole 'Storm-Rider' Fletcher | Loading...Beautiful piece, truely, I always pictured the lady with red hair myself and I love the way you rendered it. Mixed media pencial crayon and computer? Anyways, like I was saying, it's a georgeous piece, you did a good job of it.
And to help clean up the question of character: Tenyson's Lady wasn't based upon the character of Morgain, they were two entirely seperate characters. If you're looking into the connections between this poem and the works of classic Arthurians, may I recommend looking into the character or Elaine of Astolat. She died of the unrequieted love she felt for Sir Lancelot, and Tennyson's first poem on this topic, titled 'Elaine and Lancelot'. Good job girl, I love you're work. I'm sooo inspired to try and do a piece about the Lady now. | |
