Slowly the big statues began to loom up. “My god, what are these?”, Larell asked. “Many strange tales go round of these plains”, Petric replied, “historians say natives from ages ago made them to keep off the demons from the North. Others say they were alive once, cursed by the gods for going on forbidden quests. But some think they are waiting. Waiting for the right person, destined to lead them.” Larell vaguely expected to hear break rock, but it was awfully quiet. The oppressive silence was occasionally interrupted by a cold draught. “Can’t we go around it?”, she whispered. “No”, Pertic replied, “we cannot.”

Congrats on Mod's Choice.

Reminds me of the Terra Cotta army of the first Chinese Emperor, don't know if it was based off that or if you know what it is. I like the armor design. Hope to get to see more from you in the future

explanation:
The terra cotta army was an army of cermanic soldiers place in battle formation (life sizes including horses) placed underground near the first emperor's tomb to protect him in the spirit world/ next life.

Awesome picture and a very well deserved mod's choice. Though I have one complaint. You tell a part of a story as description for this picture, make me curious and now I read in an answer to a comment above that actually there is no story... Oh well, as unpleasant this fact is it makes your picture not less great.

1 Jeroen Admiraal replies: "thank you. hehe it was my intention to make this story look like a part of a bigger whole."

you got my imagination going. I love it when a story is added to a picture, makes it more real.

It would be interesting if one of these two characters were the one they were waiting for.

Ah! Amazing! Is there a story that goes with it? I love the girl's face; a mixture of fear and the knowlage that she must go on. Great job! I love the lore that goes with it!
