Jeroen Admiraal replies: "hm, you're not the first one to advise me to colour it. Perhaps I should, but I am not good with colouring programs, and my scanner isn't fond of them as well. :-(" | |
| 31 Mar 2004 | Johnathan | Loading...You really should color it. There is no way to ruin that picture, so you might as well try. | |
| 14 Apr 2004 | Lauren C. Rowlands | Loading...I just love this! The detail is amazing, it must have taken forever to do! And I agree, it should have gotten a mod’s choice, but I don’t think it needs to be coloured, it’s fine as a pencil drawing ^__^ Jeroen Admiraal replies: "Yes, it took me quite some time. But that doesn't matter because now it is exactly how I imagined me the scene in the beginning." | |
| 26 Jun 2004 | Seren | Loading...I totally agree with everyone above- it definitely deserves a mods choice. The drawing is fantastic, really detailed, things like eyes and hans being constructed. It's fantastic. Also, I love the quote, it really suits the picture. Maybe you should try colouring it by hand, you never know how it might turn out, you may surprise yourself. It doesn't really matter if it doesn't go as planned, Elfwood has immortalised it! Jeroen Admiraal replies: "hmmm. perhaps I can make a copy of the original and colour over it." | |
| 7 Dec 2004 | Michelle 'dragonmajik' Mayo | Loading...This piece immediately captured my attention as I was looking through your gallery. There's SO MUCH DETAIL! Hee hee, I love work like this where there's so much to look at! What's really nice is that you created a busy picture without really over crowding the image. The focus is still clear, and the details are just the sprinkles on top I think if I had to recommend anything that might improve on this piece (or others like it in the future), it might be to play more with heavy and light outlines. Your use of shading is minimal, and I like that effect because I think a lot of values could over complicate a drawing like this one, but I think you could have done more with the outlines on the mechanical equipment that could help establish a greater sense of depth and really add a visual punch to it. Using thick and thin lines on detailed work like this one could help strengthen the focus of the composition, too Jeroen Admiraal replies: "Now you mention it, I have never tried to work with thin or thick lines! Actually, I think lines are very unnatural. In reality, objects have no lines around them. But I'm not trying to defend my picture, perhaps I'll update it some day with a better use of shading that I've learned lately since it is an old picture." | |
