Taremtis, The Vertical City. Rising up for 1500 meters, all the way from sea level, Taremtis used to be the World’s largest trade center. The “City of 1000 Stairways” was famous for its harbor located in the caves and, off course, the Vertical Hall. This indoor space went up from the flooded caves to the Pillared Walkway, 1000 meters high. 32 mountain-eagles equipped with seats were present to bring wealthy people up and down. This all came to an end with the invasion of Lord Murnoch and his Army of the Mists. Instead of risking a battle difficult to overlook, he ordered all the bridges destroyed and the harbor guarded, leaving its inhabitants to starvation. 32 people were chosen to fly away with the eagles in search for help, but upon returning, the only thing they could still do was rebuilding the bridges. Nowadays, the only inhabitants are the birds circling around the towers, apart from the occasional bandits looking for the legendary Treasure of Murnoch. The gold collected during the invasion, representing Taremtis’ age of wealth.

I always loved the idea of a vertical city. I did a piece like this four years ago in a high school art class... but it wasnt nearly as well executed as your piece.
