if every child was bound to a star
all the angels will rejoice near and far
no tears will fall from troubled skies
every mother will never cry out goodbyes

if ever the winds could whisper your name
would the feelings you have ever be the same?
like a girl who dies from angry pain
would a boy still have hope of not being stained?

where is the love?
a love who lets the dawn in to drown out the night
where is the love?
that will come to end all nation's fights

who will come and guide us to a new dawn
and not subject us to evil as their discarded pawns
how can we be strong when all hope is lost
please don't tell me all life comes at a cost

If every flower blooms in the spring
would we still have the heart to listen to them sing?
every tree would give us shelter from the sun's fire
or would we subject all of earth's treasures to vainly expire?

where is the love?
that will lift our souls to new heights
where is the love?
that will vanquish all racial and religious plights

a thousand times i have asked this question
a thousand times i have dreamed of a solution
and out of a thousand only one comes to mind
that the love must come from all of us deep inside
