| 2 Jul 2007 | Davina Behin Jones | I loved looking through your gallery and seeing all the different mediums you use - I'm a painter/sculptor too. But I've never done felting. How do you attach the wool to the wire? I'm constantly trying to come up with ways to allow movement and yet still keep the shape. Wire and cloth seems like one of the best options, but I don't work very well with fabric. Anyway, back to your gallery: Your style is very pleasing! I didn't leave specific comments because I loved practically every page. Looking through it all was a treat. Keep the treats coming! Amanda Edlund replies: "Thank you so much!I get the wool stuck to the wire by using to lengt of wire twirled together with wool in between them. After that, I can get more wool stuck on the wool that pokes out from the twirled wires with a felting needle. Uhm... that was probably a very bad explanation, if you want a better one, you can drop me an e-mail and I can try to explain it more thoroughly.I've been trying to make bendeble creatures for a long time too, and when I stumbled upon the needle-felting tecnice, I found it perfect for that. If you want to learn needle-felting, there are probably some tutorials on the internet, but I just bought some wool and gave it a try. Thanks again for your comment!" | |
| 5 Jul 2007 | A Friend | ello Amanda, you are very gifted in so many things, that's amazing! Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get that "human-painting-thing" right one day, you've got the talent! Oh well, I'm much older than you and really enjoy drawing, but I had to realize I'm just not good at it ^^ Hehe, but it's nice to see how you make the best out of your talent, keep up the good work and practicing Amanda Edlund replies: " Hey, I'm not even sure if I belive in "talent". I create stuff because I think it's fun, and when somethings fun, it goes both faster to learn and it gives you the will to keep practising. And the more you practise, the better you'll get. I have worked hard to get this far, and I think anyone can do so. So I don't think it's talent. I think it's hard work =). Even if you say you're no good, I think you might be. But there is always new things to learn for everyone. I need to learn some human anatomy....Thanks for leaving a comment anyway! It's always nice to hear if someone appreciates my work!" | |
