  | This is the first piece of art I've done digitally. As with all my pieces, this done from scratch on the computer, starting with blocks of colour. The Salamander was a mythical creature that lived in fire. The mythical creature actually arose from the real salamander lizard, who would be seen each morning climbing out from the dead ashes of the fire (it would climb into the still-warm embers after the fire had died), and so I wanted to get across the lizard-type origins, but retain a fantasy feel. This salamander has a dual tail, ending in fire, and its wings are also from fire. I saw this little fella in a dream, and decided to sketch him out. As I did, he took on more personality....;) |
