SciFi and Fantasy Art Ferocity by Elizabeth Bartlett

'Beware...the mask that wears you.' Anyone ever seen the movie 'Kingdom of Heaven?' I haven't yet, but in the preview, there was this silver engraved mask, and it looked so cool!! That kinda inspired me, along with the Phantom of the Opera. It's a very fierce mask...it takes the wearer over. Note the claws at the brow clutching the owner's face. Are those things feathers or leaves? I dunno! What do you think? Mechanical pencil and Photoshop, Early 2005.

16 Oct 2005	The Nameless Namer	Loading... I saw "Kingdom of Heaven"; it's great, you have to see it. And the silver mask? I found it an awesome idea, and it belonged to what I found one of the most interesting characters: the king of Jerusalem. The mask in your picture reminds me of Maori tattoos... Elizabeth Bartlett replies: "Yeah? I might just have to see it sometime...Wow, that's neat. I just got finished with a unit in Art History that included Oceania and all their tattooing and such...I guess it does! Well, thanks for your keen observation, and for the thoughtful comment!"

He (she?) definately looks ferocious - great detail on the tattoos.. it has a certain Darth Maul-esque quality to it, and he was all about ferocity, let me tell you. Very creative too - the feathers fit perfectly here! Kingdom of Heaven, by the way, was a great movie Elizabeth Bartlett replies: "Yeah, "it" is rather androgynous...and I think it's interesting, your interpretation of it as tattoos; I guess when a mask takes hold of your face in such entirety, it kinda becomes tattooish! It did kinda remind me of Darth Maul though, heh.I might have to rent that movie sometime!"
25 Aug 2007	Kålorm Grønn	Loading... I love this picture of yours! It's beautiful. You like The Phantom of the Opera, you say...? Well, so do I! Some of my favourite music. Ever heard it in Swedish? That's strange!!!!!! Ah...the pic...! Wish I could draw like that. And I think it's feathers, not leaves, but that's just my opinion. Keep up the goo...er...BEST work! (And that's an order!)
